Another option you have in a Rhetoric Studio class site is to take part in discussion forums. To access the discussion forums feature, click on the Forums icon or link located on the main page of your class site. The first time you access this feature, you will see an important note about saving your work. Please read this carefully and then click the "I Understand" button and you won't be shown this warning again.
The main Discussion Forums page will list the individual forum titles along with a description, (if the instructor has added one). The title is a link, so clicking it will take you to that forum's main page where you can post a new message or reply to another user's message.
On a forum's main page, you can select to view "all messages," "last 24 hours," "last 7 days," "last 10 days," "last 20 days," "last 30 days," "last 60 days," "last 90 days," "last 120 days," or "last year."
From the main page of any forum, you have the option to create a new message by clicking on the "Create Message" button.
This takes you to a page where you can give your post a title by typing it into the "subject" line, and create your post by typing it into the text editor box. When you are finished with your post, click the "Save Message" button (there is one at the top and one at the bottom of the page) to post your message to the discussion forum.
To reply to another user's discussion forum post, click on the subject line of their post to open it.
To post your reply, click the "reply" button. This takes you to a page where you can create your message by typing it into the text editor box.
On this page, you can choose whether or not to "Include Original Message in Your Reply," the default being "yes." To change this, simply select the "no" option and push the "change" button.
When you are finished with your reply, click the "Save Message" button (there is one at the top and one at the bottom of the page) to post your reply to the discussion forum.
Once you have made a new post or reply to the discussion forum, you have the option to go back and update or delete any of your posts. Click on the title of your post to open it. On this page, you are given the option to "reply," view the "previous message," or "update" or "delete" your post.
To update or delete a post, open the post and then select the appropriate option by clicking that button. "Update" will open a page where you can make changes to your post and update it by clicking the "Update Message" button.
To delete a post, select the delete option. This opens a page where you can select to either "delete" the message or "cancel" your request.
